Sewage Treatment Plant Emergency Call-Out & Water Treatment Recovery
A busy sewage treatment plant experienced an urgent process failure, putting its wastewater treatment plant operations at risk and threatening regulatory compliance. Immediate intervention was required to restore functionality and maintain proper water treatment processes.
The Challenge: Critical Failure at the Wastewater Treatment Plant
When the team arrived at the wastewater treatment plant, they found several serious issues. Both treatment zones in the sewage treatment plant had stopped working, and a thick layer of waste had built up on the humus tank. Some of the filter media had also ended up on the surface, likely pushed out during a recent overflow.
These problems created major risks, including unexpected downtime, environmental breaches, and potential damage to equipment. The site needed urgent support from water treatment specialists to stabilise the system and prevent further failures.
The Solution: Rapid Response and Water Treatment Solutions
The engineering team carried out a detailed diagnostic. The blower was tested with no electrical faults detected. However, initial reset attempts caused instant tripping. By opening the second biozone’s main valve, excess pressure was relieved, allowing the blower to be successfully reset.
Pressure between both biozones was carefully rebalanced, and aeration was monitored for an hour to confirm stable operation. Brown foam appearing on the first biozone indicated media migration, which was addressed as part of the recovery plan. Once complete, the sewage treatment plant was running stably, maintaining correct pressure and fully operational, avoiding further disruption to wastewater treatment plant operations.
The Outcome: Stable Sewage Treatment Plant and Improved Water Treatment
The emergency call-out successfully restored full operation of the wastewater treatment plant, preventing further process failure. Operational stability improved, risk of downtime was minimised, and compliance with environmental standards was maintained.
A follow-up tanker visit was recommended to remove sludge from the humus tank and check for any further media migration from the biozones, ensuring long-term operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
